![]() ![]() ![]() I agree with Gary that Contract is the only one that makes sense and would be useful at all, as you cannot feather a selection of the whole document, no need to Smooth and you can't expand the selection as there is nothing more to select. I don't have it installed, but apparently you can still use Contract in CS3. When Adobe introduced the Border command, they also took out the options to do anything but Border if a selection was touching the outer bounds of the image document. You used to be able to use Contract when selecting all in older versions of PS. The "selection | transform selection" option is always available. Maybe that explains the software's behaviour. But use the rectangular marquee tool to create a rectangular selection that doesn't quite reach the edges, and all the options are there.Īpart from "border", "contract" is the only "select | modify" option that seems to make much sense when the whole layer is selected, and "contract" can be reproduced by using "border" and adjusting the border width in pixels. ![]() Just do a "select all" on the photo, and the only "select | modify" option that's available is "border". The issue you're describing doesn't need a new layer to be demonstrated. What are you trying to do - maybe whatever you're trying isn't available from that menu? Others are greyed out and cannot be selected. the only choice I have in this drop down menu is. Create Layer0 > New Layer (from Layers pallette) > Fill with a color. ![]()
